Explosion Suppression Systems
POWDER SUPPRESSION & HOT WATER EXPLOSION SUPPRESSION SYSTEM
Explosion Suppression Systems are fast fire extinguishing systems that detect the explosion pressure in a protected plant and then mitigates the flame/pressure damage to an acceptable level. For the very best in explosion suppression solutions, view our full range of ATEX solutions below.

POWDER EXPLOSION SUPPRESSION SYSTEM
ATEX’s Powder Advanced Inerting Suppression Systems offer multi-purpose, high efficiency suppressors, discharging non-toxic flame-extinguishing powder into the protected plant using fast acting non-explosively actuated valves.
HOT WATER EXPLOSION SUPPRESSION SYSTEM
ATEX Hot Water Advanced Inerting suppression system is an innovative solution to the complex problem of non-contaminating explosion suppression in large volumes especially suited to the Dairy industry. Superheated water is released under pressure to quickly disperse microscopic droplets over a large area creating an inert atmosphere which immediately extinguishes flame.
WHY ATEX EXPLOSION SUPPRESSION SYSTEMS ARE THE RIGHT CHOICE FOR YOU
Explosion suppression systems throughout industry, have had a bad reputation for the unwanted false activations with so called phantom causes. ATEX systems have advanced to a superior level of diagnostics, virtually eliminating these unwanted “phantom” operations.
ATEX explosion suppression systems are independently certified to meet SIL Level 2 requirements.
The ATEX Detection and Control System provide the most user friendly and powerful diagnostic tool in the industry. The ATEX Decentralized Modular System allows for ultimate flexibility. Expansion does not require the redesign of the system.
ATEX PXD Sensors continually monitor the process for over pressure developments dynamically and statically. In addition a heartbeat signal is continually monitored to insure the reliability of the device. Through sophisticated exclusive algorithms, ATEX sensors can filter out most electrical spikes and variances that would normally cause false activations in analog sensors.
The last four real time alarm curves for each PXD Sensor are stored for review and analysis. Only with the curves from both sensors on an independent basis can detection signals be evaluated and compared for proper response. Besides visual Diagnostics, each sensor can be individually interrogated on command for settings, real time pressure and sensor history.
ATEX Suppressors
All ATEX Suppressors are addressable devices with advanced monitoring techniques. While some systems still use old series wired supervision, the ATEX addressable system provides distinct functional benefits.
In the unlikely event of a fault, the ATEX PLOG software allows the user to interrogate each suppressor for; pressure, lock status, computer integrity, voltage supply, capacitor firing potential and gas generator integrity.
All suppressors have an easily refurbishable valve system. Expensive and unreliable rupture disks and/or explosively actuated devices are not required.
AIS-P Powder Suppression
ATEX Powder Suppressors provided in 5, 20, 35 and 45 Litre sizes store the dry chemical and are pressurised to 60 bar with dry Nitrogen.
AIS-H Hot Water Suppression
ATEX Hot Water Suppressors were initially designed for the Dairy industry, as hot water is more hygienic than powder. The water is stored at temperature and pressure. On release the hot water flashes, accelerating as a vapor providing an unobstructed discharge pattern throughout the vessel making it ideal for large volume protection.
Hygienic Discharge Spreaders
ATEX offers a variety of nozzle systems, so that the required function of the explosion suppression system can be ensured for each individual case. The choice of the right system depends on the particular process concerned. The ATEX nozzle systems are used in fields where hygienic requirements are strict. They are also used in areas where the connections between the extinguishing bottle and the vessels to be protected needs to be flexible, such as vibrating beds.
