French grain silo explosion injures four

At least four people have been injured following an explosion at a grain silo in Strasbourg, eastern France on June 6. Police said eleven were on site at the time of the incident. The grain storage facility is owned by the Comptoir Agricole group, a major French agricultural cooperative, and had a storage capacity of 40,000 tonnes.

A large fire broke out in the aftermath of the explosion and dozens of firefighters rushed to the scene, according to local news sources.

The silo is located on the banks of the river Rhine, on the border with Germany. France is the European Union’s largest grain producer and the river is an important route for transporting grain to other European countries.
