Two dead in factory explosion in Dieppe, France

The cause of the blast in one of the oil tanks is not yet known, according to the local prefecture and the company that runs the plant, but a police investigation has been launched.

AN EXPLOSION in a factory in northern France has left two dead and two seriously injured. Forty firefighters attended the scene of the huge fire in the six-storey building. The blaze raged for several hours and local residents were told to remain indoors.

 

Seven people are being treated for shock.A 300m area around the vegetable oil refinery was secured and put on lockdown after the blast.City mayor, Nicolas Langlois, was on site at the end of the morning, and said: “A security perimeter has been set up and local residents were asked not to leave their homes to take no risks.”Initial reports were that one had died and one was missing, but sadly the death toll rose to two people in the afternoon.
