Declan Barry MD of ATEX Explosion Hazards limited talked at the BulkEx 2015 Exhibition and Conferences titled “ATEX have we learnt our mistakes” Sharing our experiences. Declan has identified that after researching 230 years of recorded dust explosions we are still making the same mistakes. We now have a report from the Canadian Coroner’s inquest that the dust explosion that killed 2 and 11 injuries in 2012 was caused by dust accumulations between the motor guard and the v-belt overheating the wood dust which was drier than usual due to the mountain pine beetle killed wood.
