Apple set's the standards through safety

CHINA

When big name brands feel the negative publicity pitch from safety incidents at their supplier sites, they use their resources to raise all boats to the same quality standards expected from the finished product outlet and Apple are no acception.

In response to the Foxconn explosion, as well as an explosion at Pegatron’s Riteng factory, that Explosion Hazards reported on not so long ago, Apple have worked closely with an investigative team to determine the cause of both explosions and how to avoid another one.

A set of standards was created for all suppliers handling aluminum dust, the same dust used in the production of the prominent iPad2, requiring them to implement stronger safety measures for combustible dust.

Supplier audits can harmonize good safety standards internationally. Safety is not about regulations to be appeased, it is an insurance cover against loss of production, skills, company integrity and profitability.

The Fair Labor Association (FLA) recently accepted Apple into its organization as a Participating Company. This agreement makes Apple the first technology company to join the FLA, setting a standard for others in the electronics industry.
