Wood & Paper: Powder Explosion Suppression Venting Isolation Silos Filters Elevators Mills Pipelines

Best Products: Venting, Powder Isolation & Barrier Valves

Statistically nearly ¼ of dust explosions in the states are from the wood and paper industry. This is due to the high risk of entrapped material in the product stream causing explosions in their filters and silos. As most of these plants are outside, venting is the preferred option but this needs to be backed up by the isolation of sparks (Detection and Extinguishing) flame (powder barriers) and pressure (diverters or valves).

Venting/Isolation Method

The primary hazard/risk is the filters and silos where large accumulations of product exit.  Therefore we vent the primary explosion outside to a safe area, normally at high level. The propagation of such large duct is expensive so usually chemical barriers on the inlet ducts and conveyors and possible barrier valves on the clean side of the filter.
